Chairs Report AGM 27/2/2026
Good evening everyone, and thank you for attending the Annual General Meeting of Loch Ewe Community Enterprise. I would like to begin by thanking our members, supporters, partner organisations and volunteers. Your engagement and encouragement have been essential in establishing LECE and moving the project forward. This evening is an opportunity to report clearly on what has been achieved, where matters currently stand, and what the next steps are.
Our Purpose
Loch Ewe Community Enterprise was formed with a practical and focused objective — to support the long-term economic sustainability of our area by developing infrastructure that enables local businesses to operate, grow and remain here. Our primary project is the development of a community-owned business park in Poolewe, providing well-managed and affordable workspace for local enterprises and new ventures.
Progress Over the Past Year
The Society has been established with formal governance structures and a functioning Board. Meetings have been held regularly and decisions taken carefully and transparently.
Scottish Land Fund – Stage 1
Stage 1 funding has supported feasibility work, financial modelling and project development. Not all funding has yet been drawn down and claims continue in line with eligible expenditure.
Scottish Land Fund – Stage 2
The next significant milestone is submission of the Stage 2 application, with a deadline of 31st March. If secured, this would support progression toward acquisition and delivery. Democratic Finance Scotland Micro Grant A £5,000 Micro Grant has been secured to support community engagement and preparation for a community share offer.
Community Engagement
Survey and engagement work continues to build evidence of local need and inform responsible planning. Key Considerations Financial sustainability and careful risk management remain central, including managing any period of vacant property ownership.
Priorities
• Submission of Stage 2 application
• Continued community engagement
• Governance strengthening
• Careful financial oversight
Closing
The Society remains in development but has made meaningful progress. The Board remains committed to transparency, prudence and accountability.
