Project Update: Poolewe (Bac Dubh) Community Business Park – Where We Are Today
Loch Ewe Community Enterprise (LECE) is continuing to make strong progress toward the proposed community purchase of the former MacLeod & Mitchell builders’ yard at Bac Dubh, with the aim of transforming it into a low-rental, community-owned business park supporting small businesses and start-ups across Wester Ross.
Following a successful Stage 1 funding award from the Scottish Land Fund, LECE has been carrying out detailed due diligence and developing a robust, long-term business plan. Independent specialists have now completed building condition, environmental, and RICS Red Book valuation surveys, and we are currently awaiting the outcomes of these reports before finalising the next steps.
In parallel, the LECE team is actively shaping a multi-layered funding strategy, engaging a range of potential partners to secure the best route toward a sustainable community acquisition. We are also preparing the next phase of community consultation, ensuring residents, local businesses, and stakeholders continue to shape the vision for the site.
Looking ahead, we are planning our first Annual General Meeting (AGM) for Q1 2026. This will be a major milestone, giving us the opportunity to welcome our many supporters as full members and significantly expand our volunteer management team as the project moves into its next phase.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the project so far. Momentum is building — and we look forward to sharing more as the work progresses.
